Course Registration

• February: Registration Information Sessions, for current students at EWHS
• February: 8th Grade Family Night, please see building calendar for dates if available, for incoming district 8th graders and new to district 8th graders
• February: New Student Enrollment and Course Selection Begins, for students not attending a district middle school
• February/March: Course Selection Available in Qmlativ, for current students and 8th graders attending a district middle school
• March: Individual Meetings, between current students and their assigned counselor, to review course selections
• Mid-March: Parents/Guardians Review Course Selections, in Qmlativ
• End-March: Student Course Selections Due, are final for district students after deadline (TBD)
• June: Priority Enrollment/Course Registration Deadline, for new students from a non-district middle school (enrollments and course requests are still welcome in August)

Please know that counselors have made every effort to get your schedule as requested through the registration and master scheduling process. Students choose courses last spring for the following school year through the course request process. The courses students chose at that time are the basis for the current master schedule. 

Once a computer-generated schedule is created, schedules will only be corrected under the following conditions:

• Graduation deficiency—must repeat a requirement

• Seniors—graduation requirement omitted

• Duplicate period—2 or more classes for one period

• Teacher determines an incorrect course level or prerequisite not met

• Incomplete schedule - need more classes to make a full schedule

We understand that students may change their minds about courses but unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to make preference changes at this time. If you do have an error as identified above in the five conditions, please visit the EW counseling Office or email your counselor. We want to make sure you are in the correct classes and start your year off well!

Drop Policy:

After the fifth (5th) school day of a semester, classes may be dropped but no new classes may be added. Only Teacher Assistants may be added after this time. Classes may be dropped up to ten days into the semester without penalty. Classes dropped after the first 10 days of the semester will be reflected on the transcript with an "F" grade regardless of current grade. Students changing classes may be required to make up any missed assignments and attendance will transfer to the new class. 

IB students are required to meet with the IB Coordinator prior to submitting drop paperwork.

To be eligible to graduate, students must meet both Washington State and Edmonds School District graduation requirements. To find out if your child is on track to earn a diploma, your best resource is to contact your child’s school counselor.

OSPI Graduation Requirements

The school district will provide each student with the materials and supplies necessary to learn basic skills taught in their classes. However, some classes may require the student to pay a fee for consumable materials. If a student is unable to work out satisfactory arrangements for payment of these fees, contact the school counseling office for assistance. Funds may be available to pay for fees for students who need support, including all students who qualify for the Free and Reduced Meals Program. Students or guardians may need to provide the district-generated “Eligibility Notification Letter” provided by the Food Service Office.
