IB Courses

All IB courses are open to all EWHS students, excluding IB Core; students register for specific IB courses during Spring course registration. 

There are 6 subject groups that are required in IB. 3 of these courses must be Standard Level (SL) and 3 must be Higher Level (HL), and the IB exams must be taken in this same manner. Standard Level courses  are 1 year and Higher Level courses are 2 years.

Full-IB diploma candidates also take the Theory of Knowledge course, engage in a specialized research paper in a subject area of choice (the Extended Essay), and commit to Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) hours. IB learners strive to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective.
