Financial Aid and Scholarships

  • Financial Aid:
The 2018-19 financial aid applications (for students attending college during the 2018-19 school year) went live on October 1, 2017.
For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, plan to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) FAFSA
For students ineligible for the FAFSA due to immigration status, state financial aid is available.  Apply using the free online Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).  Funds are very limited so apply as soon as possible after October 1st of each year.   WASFA
Colleges each have their own FAFSA filing deadline.  Some as early as November for institutional scholarship consideration! Check each college's Financial Aid deadline for for more information.
The EWHS Financial Aid Night is scheduled for November 30th, 2017 at 6:00pm. We will hold a presentation in the theater at 6:00pm featuring keynote speaker, MiChelle Thorsen, Director of Financial Aid at Edmonds Community College which is open to all students and their families.  Seniors, need help completing the FAFSA or WASFA?  Join us in the Library from 6:00-7:30pm for help completing your application.  Students  should plan to bring their chromebooks and all necessary financial documents to this help session.  Financial Aid experts, Counselors, DREAMer experts and volunteers will be on hand to help you.  Translators will be available.
Do you plan to attend a Community College?  Don't wait to fill out your FAFSA - fill it out in the fall and plan to apply to your intended community college in fall as well.  Financial Aid money is often "first come first served" so fill out your FAFSA earlier and hold your place in the virtual financial aid "line".

  • SENIORS - you must complete and turn in your EWHS Scholarship Application to be considered for staff nominated scholarships! Please turn in to Mrs. Lipscomb in the Career Center!  The application can  be found in the "Documents" section of Naviance and hard copies are available in the Career Center.
  • Where to look for scholarships:
  1.  In Naviance!  Students have their own accounts and family members can log in as a Guest using the password "EWHS Naviance".  Go to the "colleges" tab and scroll down to "scholarship list".  This list is updated weekly and will grow significantly throughout each year. Check back frequently for additions.  Most of our local scholarship applications become available in December and January, and are usually due in March - May.  Local scholarship applications, once available, may also be found outside the Career Center, and in the "documents" folder within Naviance.
  2. Colleges have their own scholarships!  Sometimes merely applying to the college serves as the scholarship application.  Some colleges have separate applications.  Search for scholarships on the "financial aid" page of each college's website.
  3. Make an account on Washington's scholarship database for Washington high school students: The Washboard
  4. Make an account on one of the largest national scholarship databases:  Fastweb
  5. There are many scholarships out there. Do google searches and talk to college admissions reps about scholarship opportunities.
  6. Maldef hosts a database of scholarships for undocumented students and DREAMers: Maldef
